MAD SCIENCE OF SCOTTSDALE: WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
Check in on the 2004 “Help! My
Office is Obsolete!” office makeover contest winner and see how they’re doing
one year later
A year after winning Xerox and Entrepreneur
magazine’s 2004 "Help! My Office is Obsolete!" office makeover
contest, Mad Science of Scottsdale, Ariz. is expanding, due in part to new
document technology and services from Xerox.
"More than anything, this makeover
has helped us grow our business," said Jack Hamlett, owner of Mad Science,
a children's science education company. "We recently acquired a second Mad
Science franchise territory in the Phoenix area, doubling our business!"
Prior to the makeover, the company
described its office as a "science experiment gone wrong." Now, with
state-of-the-art Xerox hardware and software; design consultation services from
Thom Filicia, interior design specialist on the Emmy Award nominated hit show Queer
Eye; and HON furniture, the office is transformed into a more productive and
efficient workplace than ever before.
Gone is the 12-year-old thermal fax
machine. Instead, Mad Science uses a Xerox WorkCentre® Pro 55
advanced multifunction system to copy, print, fax and e-mail. The 55
page-per-minute system helps them quickly and easily print and copy large
volumes of course materials and registration forms on-site. With the Xerox
Phaser® 8400 solid ink printer, Mad Science is adding vibrant color
to its documents, including printing color materials, like "Bug
Bingo" for a new summer science camp for preschoolers called "In the
Garden."
Having this powerful equipment in-house
enables employees to immediately react to last-minute requests and changes in
materials. In fact, Mad Science printed and copied nearly 15,000 documents in the
first 40 days after the Xerox MFP and printer were installed.
